About The Blog

Lessons Learned: A Quotable life is where we get to share quotes about pretty much anything and how they relate to life, my family or what is going on in the world.    Let's just call it an editorial on the words of others.

Why quotes you might ask?

The answer:  Because I am a complete quote junkie.  (Since I talk  (A LOT) I guess when I run out of stuff to say, I just start spouting out other peoples word's!)

Quotes of others are inspirational because they bring a warmth to us of encouragement, a cautionary tidbit of advice to lure us away from danger or often wisdom from someone who has succeeded in life.  The most powerful quotes are nothing more than simple words uttered raw, without caution and intended to express ones deepest feelings.  Quotes often give us words that we do not possess on our own.  They are channels to express ourselves with passion, with purpose and with a safety net of saying what we mean using other people's words.

I first start wielding my quotes in 6th grade when I won 1st place in a UIL speech contest where I talked about the Iran Contra Affair (nope, I did not have any idea what that was but I gave one heck of a speech on it for a sixth grader!)   It was in doing research for that paper that I discovered the Reader's Digest quotable quotes section.   From that day forward, I was hooked.

Unfortunately, I did not always follow the wisdom of others that I learned from those quotes.   Therefore, I learned some lessons the hard way.   Life has also dealt me some blows that came out of no where (okay, maybe some of them I knew were coming but I was hoping to duck low enough to miss them)! In amongst the defining moments of my life have been long periods of happiness, joy and fulfillment -- All and all - pretty blessed.

We can cross between the past and present to see lessons learned, challenges faced and how every one's life is quotable to someone.  A little humor, a few tears and hopefully a little blessing along the way to you and I.
